Carnival Corp Set to Build Four More Ships

Carnival Corporation has just announced that they’re signed an agreement with Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy to build four new cruise ships with contracts to be finalized next year.  Two will be built for Costa Asia for China, one for P&O Cruises Australia, and one for Princess Cruises.  Including this new agreement, the company is expecting 17 new ships between 2016 and 2020.  Talk about a growing brand!

These four new ships will be expected in 2019 and 2020.  The two 135,500-ton ships for Costa Asia and one for P&O will carry 4,200 passengers each.  Princess’ new 143,700-ton ship will carry 3,560 passengers and will join the “Royal Princess” class, set for delivery in 2017.  Each will be specifically designed for its brand and tailored for the guests it will serve.

The new Costa Cruises Asia ships will feature the company’s “Italy’s finest” experience, with Italian design, cuisine, entertainment, and hospitality influences.  In the past nine years, Costa Asia has been recognized as the industry leader in the region, and was named as the first-ever Asia Best Cruise Line in the Asia Cruise Awards this year.

The new P&O Cruises Australia ship will join the recently expanded fleet and will reach six total with the launching of Pacific Explorer in 2017.  The vessel will have the largest passenger capacity from the line, with the next largest ship being the upcoming Pacific Explorer.

The new Princess Cruises ship will include signature Princess details such as a central atrium hub with a variety of dining, entertainment, and retail options, Movies Under the Stars outdoor experience, and 80% of the staterooms will include balconies.  The ship will also include some cutting-edge innovations.

Amenities, special features, and deployment details will be revealed in the future.  Visit their website at carnivalcorporation.com.
