Carnival Ship Leaves Galveston

After four and a half years, the Port of Galveston said farewell to Carnival Triumph on March 21, as she sailed to dry dock and then her new homeport of New Orleans. Triumph is undergoing a two-week routine dry dock before heading to New Orleans. She will debut from the Big Easy on April 4, 2016.

Nothing New Planned

She is not expected to receive any new upgrades, only routine maintenance. Carnival Triumph underwent Fun Ship 2.0 in June 2013.  During that enhancement, the ship received a Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, EA Sports Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, and BlueIguana Tequila Bar.

Goodbye Triumph

“We are saddened to see Carnival Triumph depart our facilities for the last time today,” stated Michael Mierzwa, Port Director. “Carnival Triumph played a key role not only in our success in the cruise industry and becoming the fourth busiest cruise port in the United States, but also significantly contributed to the local and regional economy. She will be missed.”

Hello Carnival Liberty

In a swap, Carnival Liberty has replaced Triumph to take over four and five-night Mexico sailings. Carnival Breeze will also homeport to Galveston in late 2016.
