Orlando breaks tourism record for 2011

55M Last year, Orlando welcomed a record-breaking 51.4-million visitors in 2010, making them first destination to top 50 million. This week, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs announced that Orlando welcomed 55.1 million visitors in 2011.

Orlando is the first destination in the country to welcome more than 55 million visitors and remains the most visited destination in the U.S.

Orlando is located 54-miles from Cape Canaveral, Florida, where popular Port Canaveral is located. Orlando remains a popular pre and post stay destination for cruisers, especially with Disney Cruise Lines sailing from central Florida. In 2011, 1.5-million passengers embarked from Port Canaveral.
