Over the weekend three cruise ships were delayed leaving the Port of Venice after 70 small boats surrounded the harbor in protest of the environmental affects that ships have. Along with the boats were hundreds of activists from the No Big Ships group lining the shore to send their message.
Studies show cruise ship environmental impacts are minimal to Venice and the managing director of the port deemed the protest a failure.
The MSC Opera, MSC Musica and Costa Fascinosa all left behind schedule on Sunday citing “safety reasons,” according to the UK’s Daily Mail.
