Carnival Brings ‘Grinchmas’ to the Hospital

Carnival Cruise Line and Dr. Seuss Enterprises were determined to bring holiday cheer to as many kids as they could this Christmas season.  They made good on this goal when they visited the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital in Charleston and The Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore, hosting fun “Merry Grinchmas” celebrations.  They also presented each with a $10,000 donation.

Entertainment and youth staff from the Charleston-based Carnival Fantasy and Baltimore-based Carnival Pride recreated their exciting holiday show with the ships’ dancers and singers in each facility’s play areas.  The shows involved The Grinch up to his antics as usual, as he tried to stop Christmas from coming by stealing the cruise director’ favorite ornaments.  Once his heart was transformed, he gave them back in the shows’ grand, heartwarming finale.

Characters from Dr. Seuss’ beloved stories and Carnival team members handed out Suess-themed gift bags to every child, including their own Good Deed Tracker where they could complete a list of good deed suggestions.  This is in hopes that, like the Grinch, they could grow their own hearts “three times its size” too.

Carnival operates departures year-round from Baltimore and Charleston, carrying over 100,000 guests annually from those ports.  Their “Merry Grinchmas” festivities onboard are already underway fleetwide for the Christmas season.
