Carnival Cruise Drops 10 Calls to Belize

Belize
Belize, a tender port.

Carnival Cruise Line’s is dropping 10 calls to Belize in 2013 because of overcrowding. Carnival Legend will skip the port this week and in December while Carnival Glory will skip eight calls starting this month. Both ships that are skipping Belize will pick up Costa Maya, Mexico, a pop-up port town in a small fishing village along the Yucatan Peninsula.

“It’s a 45 minutes tender ride from ship to shore, there’s too many ships carrying too many people,” said Stewart Chiron, The Cruise Guy®.

The port has the capacity for four large ships to anchor but on multiple days had five scheduled.

Skipping Belize will also allow for extra port time in Cozumel.
