This Sunday is the biggest football day of the year – Super Bowl Sunday. The Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos are in it to win it, and Carnival is celebrating the big day onboard. The creative minds behind the bar department at Carnival Cruise Line have created a pair of cocktails inspired by the two teams.
Those who want to create these colorful, original cocktails at home can follow these steps:
The Pounder (for Carolina)
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz of Tito’s Vodka
- 2 oz Blue Curaçao
- 1.5 oz pineapple juice
- Chambord kicker (optional)
Instructions:
Pour all ingredients, except for the Chambord, into a mixing cup with ice. Shake for at least five seconds. Strain into glass with fresh ice and add Chambord to release the team’s color. Garnish with pineapple slice.
The Charger (for Denver)
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz of Flor de Caña Rum
- 4 oz orange juice
- .25 oz of Grenadine
- Blue Curaçao kicker (optional)
Instructions:
Pour all ingredients, except for Blue Curaçao, into a mixing cup with ice. Shake for at least five seconds. Strain into glass with fresh ice and add Blue Curaçao to release the team’s color. Garnish with orange slice, cherry, and drink umbrella.
In addition to the specialty drinks, there will be discounted buckets of beer. The cruise line also has some fun activities planned for Super Bowl Sunday, including special trivia contests, and a “sailgate” party with games and music. Guests will also have a chance to show off their best touchdown celebration to win a prize.
