Aside from one cruise line returning to New Orleans a day late, two more ships are now going to have a late arrival into the cruise ports of New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama, from what was Tropical Storm Lee. Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Triumph and Carnival Elation are both being held at sea until conditions are safe to enter the ports.
Update: 11:30 am ET
Due to affects of Tropical Depression Lee, the Carnival Elation was delayed arriving in Mobile from its previous cruise. The good news is that local pilots boarded this morning and the ship is expected to dock at 10:30 AM (CDT). Because of limited parking and seating facilities at the terminal, please do not proceed to the cruise terminal until 2:30 PM (CDT). Embarkation is scheduled from 2:30 to 4:30 PM (CDT) and sailing is scheduled for 5:00PM (CDT). Carnival Triumph is also sailing a 4-night Western Caribbean itinerary will not be docking in New Orleans until this afternoon.
The company’s website stated, “The Carnival Triumph will be delayed arriving in New Orleans from its previous cruise on Monday, 9/5/11. Weather permitting, the ship is tentatively scheduled to dock at 3:00PM. Because of limited parking and seating facilities at the terminal, please do not proceed to the cruise terminal until 7:00PM. Embarkation is scheduled to take place from 7:00 -10:00 PM and there should be no impact to our scheduled itinerary.”
Because of adverse weather conditions, the Carnival Triumph is expected to arrive in New Orleans at approximately 5 pm local time, several hours later than scheduled. Following the debarkation process, guests will then begin boarding for the next cruise, a five-day western Caribbean voyage, with departure scheduled for approximately 11 pm local time later this evening.
Tropical Depression Lee continues to drench the Gulf coast with rain and high wind gusts.
The company is providing updates on their website.
