She floats!
Celebrity Cruises’ fifth and final Solstice-class ship Celebrity Reflection touched the water for the first time this morning at Meyer Werft shipward in Papenburg, Germany. She was floated in front of shore-side onlookers and folks logged on around the world to the shipyard’s webcam.
The dry dock bay was flooded with water until Reflection raised and then assisted by a tugboat, she backed out of the dry dock slip and berthed at a pier.
Before sea trials can begin, Celebrity Reflection will have to be towed through EMS River into Dollart Bay. Sea-trials are set to begin September 16-18, and then delivered to Celebrity Cruises. The first sailing is from Amsterdam to Barcelona.
