Cruise vacations remain one of the most popular getaways this Easter. In the past two weeks Costa Cruises, the largest Italian travel group, has recorded booking volumes for its 2012 Easter cruises exceeding the corresponding figures for its Easter cruises in 2011.

The company, which is the only Italian-flagged cruise company, has five ships operating in the Mediterranean this Easter. Costa neoRomantica departed March 31 on a nine-day Western Mediterranean cruise round-trip Savona, Italy; Costa Mediterranea sails today, April 4, on an 11-day cruise to Greece, Israel and Turkey; Costa Deliziosa departs April 6 on a five-day mini-cruise round-trip Savona; Costa Serena leaves April 8 on a one-week Western Mediterranean itinerary round-trip Savona, and Costa Pacifica also departs April 8 on an 11-night cruise round-trip Savona.

For travelers wishing to venture to more tropical and exotic destinations this Easter, there also are one-week cruises to island jewels in the Caribbean on Costa Atlantica and Costa Luminosa; one-week cruises to the United Arab Emirates and Oman sailing out of Dubai on flagship Costa Favolosa, and two-week itineraries on Costa Classica, departing from Singapore, to Malaysia and Thailand.

Beyond Easter, Costa’s new mini-cruises aboard Costa Luminosa, Costa Atlantica and Costa Deliziosa in the Mediterranean are booking strong, ideally suited for first-time cruisers and travelers who want to make the most of a getaway but only have limited time available.
