At a dockside ceremony in Porto, Portugal, CroisiEurope blessed and christened their fifth Douro River cruise ship, the 132-guest ms Miguel Torga. The ship’s name pays homage to Miguel Torga, one of Portugal’s most influential writers of the 20th century.
A family owned company, the Schmitter family inaugurated the ship. Following with maritime tradition, Ms. Isabel Ferreira de Castro, godmother and director of tourism for northern Portugal, christened the ship by breaking a bottle of champagne on the hull of the vessel.
The three-deck ship has an ultra-modern feel with influenced by the Portuguese culture.
Beginning in April 2017, the ms Miguel Torga will offer six to eight-night cruises along the Douro River across Portugal and to the Atlantic Ocean. The Douro River is known for its scenic views and wine trails.
The ship is preparing to debark on a two-night inaugural cruise to Regua.
