Cruise Costs + Infographic

Cruise Market Watch recently researched the top 12 cruise routes and their costs per region, as well as average on board expenditure. They found that on average a traveler will spend 77.3% of their budget on the ticket, and then spread the remaining 22.7% over 3 main activities – the on board casino and bar, the spa, and shore expeditions. Surprisingly the spa takes the least average amount of money (only $38 per day) where as cruisers spend around 5 times more than that at the bar and casino.

It was also found that different cruise routes have fairly drastic price differences, for example the most expensive route is Northern Europe which costs an average of $249 per day, and the least expensive is Mexico and Central America which will only set travelers back around $115 per day. This is very useful information to know when booking a cruise as it means that if you are on a tight budget you can plan accordingly.

Cruises are an excellent holiday choice, as if you go as a family you can be sure that there will be something for everyone, if your single you can make new friends throughout your journey by participating in some of the many on board activities, your ship will effortlessly sail you through some beautiful parts of the world, and you can do all of this on any budget!
