Carnival Magic Assists U.S. Coast Guard in Rescue

Early Saturday morning, watch standers on Carnival Magic received a distress call from a 22-foot sailboat 69 miles off the coast of Port Canaveral.

Upon receiving the call, the navigation team alerted the U.S. Coast Guard, which dispatched a Helicopter from Clearwater, Florida to rescue the stranded mariner. After being airlifted, the mariner was brought to the hospital to be checked out.

Magic was returning from a Caribbean sailing where it was due into Port Canaveral later that morning.

Alaska Prepares For Biggest-Ever Cruise Season

Alaska is gearing up for its biggest cruising season ever.

This year, the state is expected to see 60 ships operating in the region, with big players including Holland America and Princess with six ships each, Norwegian with five, and Royal Caribbean with four.

Carnival Cruise Line will also have its biggest-ever season in the area this year, with three ships sailing a total of 49 Alaska voyages.

P&O Cruises Ship Pulled From Service Two Weeks After Its Restart

Just two weeks after restarting sailings in the UK, P&O Cruises’ ship Arcadia has been pulled out of service effective immediately. Sailings have been canceled over lack of crew. Crew members that are on board will be temporarily re-deployed to other ships in the fleet.

Arcadia is now scheduled to reenter service on July 5 from Southampton.

P&O is not alone when it comes to staffing issues, Norwegian Cruise Line is also having similar issues on Pride of America, with limited dining venues open on the first few sailings back.
