Queen Mary Reopens to Visitors

Queen Mary is back in operation. The historic cruise liner has reopened for tours after COVID shut it down in 2020. The opening includes a limited run of tours and visits onboard.

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson stated the reopening fits into the larger phased reopening process for the ship, which had come back under local control in 2021. There have also been numerous repairs on the 87-year-old ship to public venues, the hulls, and removing some of the lifeboats to prevent structural damage.

The hotel is scheduled to open for the first night on May 12.

Holland America Puts Libraries Back on Its Ships

Holland America Line will be reinstating libraries on all its ships following the success of the library on board Rotterdam.

President Gus Antorcha announced that during the ‘pause’, passengers asked for libraries; a common feature that Holland America Line had previously removed and replaced with Microsoft Studios for technology classes.

The company will be making an incremental investment to add libraries to all their ships in response to passenger demands.
