MSC Seascape Experiencing Engine Issue

Guests sailing the brand-new MSC Seascape are getting an unexpected refund over technical issues.

Earlier this week, the ship started experiencing propulsion problems over a software update which impacted the maximum cruising speed. The issue caused the ship to arrive late into Grand Cayman on Thursday, and the vessel is now skipping Ocho Rios, Jamaica today.

After an unsuccessful reboot by engineers, the vessel is now heading to private island Ocean Cay on Saturday before returning to Miami. As a reference, Ocean Cay is approximately 60 miles off Florida’s Coast.

For the inconvenience, MSC is giving guests on board a 50 perfect refund on the cruise fare paid.

At the time of broadcast, it’s unclear whether the propulsion issue will impact the next cruise or if it’ll be repaired in Miami.
