Carnival Jubilee Floatout Scheduled
Mega shipbuilder Meyer Werft confirmed yesterday that the upcoming Carnival Jubilee will float this weekend in Germany.
The float-out is happening one day earlier than initially planned.
“Saturday, it’s the day!” The build was posted. “The Carnival Jubilee will leave our covered building dock at about 9 am and will be fixed at the equipment pier around 12 pm, according to the current schedule.”
After the float out the ship will get towed to a wet dock for further outfitting before sea trials later this year.
Jubilee will be delivered to Carnival Cruise Line this fall and sail from Texas starting in late December.
Float-out weather is expected to be 69 and wet.
New Island for Celebrity Cruises?
Could Celebrity Cruises be buying its own private island? The short answer is yes.
Industry website Cruise Critic reports that Celebrity Cruises’ new president confirmed that the cruise line is actively exploring purchasing its own private island.
While Celebrity currently cannot offer a private island to its passengers immediately, she did express her intention to make it happen.
Last month, Celebrity announced its plans to share Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay. The port will become a stop for Celebrity Reflection and Celebrity Beyond next year.
As for the location of the island, that is still to be determined.
Welcome to Progresso
Better late than never.
For the first time in its 20-year history, Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas visited the Port of Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico.
Departing from Tampa, Florida, on a four-day roundtrip journey, the ship arrived in Progreso on July 8.
Captain welcomed the port officials during the plaque exchange ceremony, which included the Yucatan Tourism Board.
The ship will return in two weeks as part of another four-day cruise.
Serenade is currently home-ported in Tampa.
