Carnival Guest Jumps off the Ship
Another guest jumped off a cruise ship.
During its return to Jacksonville, Florida, the Carnival Elation cruise ship experienced a distressing incident when 30-year-old male guests jumped overboard about 95 miles east of Melbourne.
The ship’s crew was informed by his traveling companion later in the day after he had been missing for a significant period.
The line contacted authorities, which sent three aircrews into the air.
Onboard security cameras confirmed that the passenger deliberately jumped off the ship’s side.
Carnival confirmed in a statement, “Carnival Cruise Line can confirm that a male guest jumped overboard from Carnival Elation while the ship was returning to Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday.”
The Carnival Elation continued to its home port, and the US Coast Guard launched a search operation off the Florida coast to locate the missing passenger.
At the time of the broadcast, the man has not been found.
