Carnival Picks First Godfather 

Carnival Cruise Line will have its first-ever godfather. 

It was announced this morning that Carnival Venezia, the ship we are sailing on now, will bring Jay Leno onboard as the Godfather. He will be performing at the welcome ceremony in Manhattan on June 14. 

In 2017, Leno performed on Carnival ships as part of the Carnival Live series.  

Once in NYC, the ship will sail to Bermuda, Canada, and longer Caribbean voyages. 

Port Canaveral Speaks on Epic

With the arrival of Norwegian Epic in Port Canaveral this winter, it brings over a dozen ships homeporting in Central Florida this winter. 

Canaveral’s Port Captain and CEO said, “Thanks to our great partnership and strong collaboration with Norwegian, we’re delighted to welcome back Norwegian Epic. She’s a terrific addition to our fleet of homeported ships offering a variety of Caribbean sailings to meet the surging demand.”

Port Canaveral recently revealed this year, they are expected to have more than 3m embarking cruisers and 369,000 day-stop guests. 

Norwegian Epic has a gross tonnage of 155,873 GT, a length of 1,081 feet, and 19 decks. 

Biometric Facial Technology in Boston Port

Boston’s Port is using biometric face recognition technology to streamline the debarkation process for commercial cruise lines, alongside physical passport procedures.

CBP’s facial biometrics boasted a 97% accuracy and helped counteract fraud attempts to illegally enter the US about 1,750 times.
