Royal Caribbean Testing Starlink Internet on One Ship

Royal Caribbean has been testing Elon Musk’s Starlink internet service onboard one of its ships over the past couple week.

According to Royal Caribbean Blog, while Freedom of the Seas was at sea it was getting upload speed of 10 mbps and download speeds of 52 mbps. Those speeds are up to 8x faster than normal ship internet.

Earlier this month, the line filed a request with the FCC to bring Starlink onboard, and is still waiting for approval.

By using over 2,000 low orbit satellites for internet, the Starlink is able to rival land and marine speeds.
