Norwegian Joy Cancels Cruise Call Over Port Congestion

Canceling a port over too many ships. That’s what guests sailing on Norwegian Cruise Line are being told for the upcoming Norwegian Joy voyage from PortMiami.

The March 12th cruise aboard Joy will now skip Roatán over what the company is citing “Port Congestion.” In place of Honduras, the ship will now call to Bimini.

NCL said “It is always our intention to maintain original itineraries. However, at times, unforeseen circumstances require us to make modifications.”

On that same voyage, Norwegian Joy has also cut down port hours in Cozumel from 12 to 10 hours, in the name of reducing its carbon footprint.

Holland America Introduces New Long Voyages From North America

When it comes to longer itineraries departing from closer to home, one cruise line listening to its guests.

Holland America has rolled out new Legendary sailings, which are longer voyages going unique ports where you don’t have to fly across the world to get there. In fact, most cruises will be leaving from North America.

Voyages include a 35-day sailing from Boston to Iceland, a 56-day South Pacific cruise from San Diego, and an Amazon River cruise that’s nearly a month long from Florida.

Holland America President Gus Antorcha told Cruise Radio last fall that there’s been a demand for longer round trip voyages from the U.S. and Canada.
