Azamara Onward Christened in Monte Carlo

Azamara Onward was christened in Monte Carlo this week, officially bringing Azamara’s fleet to four ships. Previously, the 1999-built vessel was part of Princess Cruises’ fleet as Pacific Princess.

Through mid-November, the ship will operate a variety of Mediterranean voyages before heading over to the Caribbean for the winter, sailing various itineraries from Miami.

Azamara’s fleet now consists of Azamara Onward, Quest, Journey, and Pursuit.

Cruise Ships Boosting Galveston’s Economy

Cruise ships are bringing in a lot of money to the Gulf Coast of Texas. In the first four months of the year, Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean brought 243,248 passengers to Galveston between 98 sailings.

Later this year, a third terminal for Royal Caribbean is scheduled to open at the port, bringing even more passengers when Allure of the Seas is in town for nine sailings. 2022 will also see Ruby Princess and Norwegian Cruise Line’s upcoming ship Norwegian Prima.

The port collects revenue from the port-owned cruise parking services, passenger head taxes, and ship dockage fees.

NCLH CEO Frank Del Rio 2021 Compensation Revealed

The numbers are out: Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings president and CEO Frank Del Rio’s 2021 compensation totaled nearly $19.7 million dollars. He had a nearly $1.8 million dollar salary, as well as a $3.6 million dollar bonus and stock awards valued at $14 million. 

Compensation for four other executives, including Norwegian Cruise Line president Harry Sommer and Regent President and CEO Jason Montague was also revealed. Each received a nearly $700,000 dollar salary, stock awards worth just over $2 million, and $700,000 in bonuses.
