New Bahamas Port Opens

The new cruise port in Nassau is officially open with positive feedback from cruise passengers. 

Bahamas Prime Minister Philip DavisĀ  the grand opening on Friday as a significant step to transforming the capital.

He said the move highlighted the importance of Downtown in the economy, history, and culture. 

The new facility encompasses new features such as a theater, and a Junkanoo museum, among other services, and represents a $300m investment.

Cruise Ship Fire Update 

And we are learning more about that cruise ship fire over the weekend. 

When P&O Cruises Pacific Adventure caught fire in the early morning hours of Sunday, the fire damaged four staterooms. 

However, the ship was able to continue its sailing and is due back in Sydney tomorrow. 

In a statement, PO AUS said, ā€œThis fire activated our emergency response procedures, including a full muster of guests and crew, and we thank everyone on board for their cooperation.ā€ 

Lucky lucky.

Carnival Prides Back in Service

The Carnival Pride made its inaugural sailing in Europe for the summer season following a month-long dry dock. 

During the dry dock, the ship received a redesigned steakhouse named Fahrenheit 555 and a renovated spa rebranded the Cloud 9 Spa and Fitness Center, and the Heroes Tribute Bar established for military service members and families. 

To help kick off the season, Carnival President Christine Duffy and Chef Emeril Lagasse welcomed guests. 

Carnival Prideā€™s first sailing will call in Paris, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Brussels, Belgium.

In Oct, pride will sail a 15-day transatlantic sail that concludes at Tampa, Fla. Carnival Legend will take over from next year, with 17 sailed scheduled.

And on the subject of Barcelona, Carnival Venezia embarked guests for the first time as a Carnival Cruise Line ship following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the cruise terminal here in Barcelona. 

Later this afternoon, the ship will sail for New York City, where it starts service on June 15.

And finally, on this Memorial Day, we honor and remember our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
