Lux Cruise Line Bans Smoking, Pretty Much

Silversea Cruises, where smoking is already banned on balconies, will begin prohibiting smoking in in private passenger areas on January 1, 2013.

“In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for our guests, staff and crew, we have updated the smoking policy for Silversea ships,” Silversea Cruises president of the Americas Ellen Bettridge said in a letter to travel agents last week.

While there will be open deck areas of Silversea ships where smoking will be allowed, the only indoor venue still permitting smoking will be Connoisseur’s Corner, a cigar and cognac bar.
