Man Threatens to Jump Off Docked Cruise Ship
A crew member aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas threatened to take his life by jumping off the mega ship while it was docked at Terminal 18 in Port Everglades on Saturday morning.
The Orlando Sentinel reported, “According to the sheriff’s office, the incident began at about 10 a.m. when a man in his late 30s threatened to jump from the ship’s railing while the vessel was docked at the port. At about 12:45 p.m., hostage negotiators were able to get close enough to the man to keep him from jumping.”
According to a poster on CruiseCritic, “the crew member was on the last lifeboat on the starboard side.”
The crew member was brought to the Broward Health Medical Center for evaluation.
The sailing just returned from a seven-night Caribbean cruise and was embarking on a special Beach Body five-night charter sailing.
