New Details on Upcoming MSC Meraviglia

In just one short year, the first guests will sail aboard MSC Cruises’ newest ship – MSC Meraviglia.  The 1,033 foot-long ship will spend her inaugural summer season in the western Mediterranean, calling at historical destinations with a unique program of excursions designed to immerse guests in the local culture.

Accommodations

The ship will feature 10 different types of staterooms, so there’s bound to be something for everyone.  Multi-generational families will enjoy MSC’s unique modular stateroom system, where up to three rooms can be combined to accommodate up to 10 guests.  In addition to the modular rooms, quadruple staterooms can accommodate a family of up to four each, with living space during the day, and a sofa that turns into a bed come nighttime.

MSC Meraviglia features an enhanced MSC Yacht Club with luxurious accommodations – spanning three decks with 78 suites, 15 inside rooms, and two apartments.  The apartments feature a large living room and two balconies – one of which has a dining table and whirlpool.  The “ship within a ship” concept allows Yacht Club guests to enjoy world-class entertainment, specialty dining, and boutiques before returning to their private sanctuary.  It also features benefits like the Top Sail Lounge – a private club offering sea views, a private pool and whirlpools, a private elevator, and an exclusive massage and treatment room in the Aurea Spa.

Dining

The vessel will feature 12 dining venues, serving fresh, authentic food.  The buffet will be open 20 hours a day and feature Mediterranean specialties and international cuisines, including ethnic and wellness corners.  Additionally, fine dining offerings will include the Kaito Sushi Bar, the new Kaito Teppanyaki Restaurant, and an American-style steakhouse with meats from around the world.

Entertainment

For the first time on any MSC ship, all of the family, kids, and teens facilities are together in an amusement park and children’s area.  The area includes the family activities area, DOREMI Studio Lounge; DOREMI Tech Lab for kids who love technology; as well as facilities designed in partnership with Chicco and LEGO.  Guests can play sports, go bowling, take in a show in the 5D cinema, play arcade games, try out a flight simulator, and more.  Other entertainment includes the onboard Aqua Park with four water slides, a splash pool, and champagne bowl.  The Himalayan Bridge will appease thrill-seekers, who can attach themselves to a rope and cross the ship nearly 200 feet above the water.

The highlight of entertainment on the ship will be Cirque du Soleil, who MSC Cruises has partnered with.  Two unique shows will be performed in the evenings, six nights per week at the purpose-built Carousel Lounge.  An on-site dinner service will be available for up to 100 of the 450 guests booked to the show as well, a unique experience unlike any other in the world.

MSC designed the Carousel Lounge for Meraviglia and her three Meraviglia and Meraviglia-Plus sister ships.  It’s been specifically designed to meet the needs of Cirque du Soleil and its performers, with a circular performance space with a 180 degree circular glass wall.  The Carousel Lounge will enable the performers to deliver their best performances for MSC guests.

Other Features

An impressive feature of the ship will be her indoor Mediterranean-style promenade, featuring a 262 foot LED sky that created an awe-inspiring atmosphere all day and all night.  The promenade will be the social center of the ship and a focal point for a range of leisure activities.  Guests can stroll up and down, sit back and relax, shop, or snack on ice cream or crepes from Jean Philippe Maury, the award-winning French chocolatier and pastry chef.

MSC Meraviglia will offer three elegant pools for guests to take a dip.  The first is the main pool on deck 15, which is inspired by Miami’s South Beach.  It will be an impressive 82 feet long, and by night, will be illuminated with special lighting.  There will also be a nearby buffet with indoor and outdoor space.  The second pool is a 33 foot indoor with a magrodome that can be opened when the weather allows.  Finally, the Aft pool on deck 16 will offer expansive views from the front of the ship.  At night, it will be transformed into a space where guests can dance under the stars.

One more pool is the private One Deck pool mentioned above, exclusively for MSC Yacht Club guests.  Located on deck 19, it will offer guests a quiet hideaway for relaxing.
