When Norwegian Breakaway debuts in April 2012 she’ll have more exciting features like an Aqua Park, outdoor sports complex, ropes course and a new mini-golf area.

“Norwegian Breakaway’s outdoor decks will offer spectacular fun and thrills for the entire family,” said ceo Kevin Sheehan, at industry conference Cruise3sixty in Fort Lauderdale on Friday.

New concepts:

  • Multiple new water slides including two free fall slides (like Green Thunder on Carnival Spirit), two side-by-side twister slides, The Whip where guests will race to the finish line and the standard flume slide.
  • Kids’ Aqua Park with kiddie pools, life-size characters from SpongeBob SquarePants and multiple spray devices
  • Three-story sports complex that will have a ropes course (like that on Carnival Magic), rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline, spider web, and a 24’ climbing cage with a spiral slide.
  • Adults-only lounge located on the aft of the ship with option to purchase an access pass for a minimal fee to Vibe Beach Club where guests can enjoy oversized hot tubs, chaise loungers, chilled towels and a full service bar.

The Norwegian Breakaway is currently under construction at Meter Werft shipyard in Germany and will arrive in homeport of New York City in May 2013. Sister ship Norwegian Getaway will follow in 2014 and home ported in Miami.
