Seward Outfitter Offering Tours to Exit Glacier

Exit Glacier
photo: wiki

Until last year, winter travel along Exit Glacier Road in Seward was limited to snowmobiles, dog sleds and skiers. However, outdoor adventure outfitter Adventure Sixty North, LLC now offers snow coach tours to the Exit Glacier area onboard a heated, 12-person snowcat.

Last year was the first for Adventure Sixty North’s snow coach tours into Kenai Fjords National Park, and it is currently the only outfitter in the state licensed to take snowcats into a national park.

The coach makes round-trip tours along a 14-mile route in Exit Glacier’s outflow zone where travelers can embark on a guided snowshoe tour or rent gear to ski or snowshoe on their own. Adventure Sixty North’s owners hope to add one more snowcat to their fleet in the next year or two and has teamed up with a local dogsledding outfitter for snowcoach and dogsledding package tours, making it an ideal excursion for visitors who want to experience the beauty and adventure of the Last Frontier in winter.
