Carnival Grows Fleet With Two New Ships Sailing from Sydney and Brisbane

Carnival Cruise Line officially welcomes two new ships to its fleet this weekend as Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter prepare to sail their first cruises from Australia.

The ships, previously sailing as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter under P&O Cruises Australia, have been rebranded and refreshed as part of Carnival’s integration of the P&O brand into its own.

Carnival Adventure will sail from Sydney, while Carnival Encounter will be based in Brisbane.

A ceremony in Sydney on Friday, led by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy, marked the official handover of Carnival Adventure.

Another celebration, Carnival Encounter, is scheduled for Saturday in Brisbane. On the same day, both ships will welcome guests for their first sailings under the Carnival name.

With the addition of these two ships, Carnival now operates 29 ships—its largest fleet in the line’s 53-year history.

Old Favorites Return

While both vessels now feature Carnival’s signature onboard experiences, they retain a few guest favorites from their P&O days.

That includes dining spots like Luke’s Bar & Grill and a mix of entertainment and family programming. Expect deck parties, comedy shows, Seuss at Sea, and the Fun Squad bringing energy throughout the ship.

Guests sailing on these ships can access Carnival’s HubApp to book dining, take excursions, and check out daily activities. They’ll also earn points through the VIFP Club loyalty program.

An Australian Comeback

Carnival says it expects to carry over 500,000 guests from its Australian homeports this year across its four ships: Carnival Adventure, Carnival Encounter, Carnival Splendor, and Carnival Luminosa.

“Our expansion in Australia demonstrates incredible enthusiasm for our brand,” said Duffy. “Doubling the fun in our Australia homeports enables us to deliver more sailing options, offer more variety, and deepen our partnerships in the Sydney and Brisbane communities.”

Last summer, Carnival announced both ships would become part of its fleet upon P&O Australia’s shutdown.
