After nearly a decade of entertaining guests and leading shipboard fun, Carnival Cruise Director Jake is stepping away from the microphone.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, he announced his departure from Carnival Cruise Line, calling it “one of the most emotional things I’ve ever done.”

Jake started his Carnival journey as an intern and later joined the Fun Squad, where he called bingo under the nickname “Jakepot Jake,” wearing a bright green money suit.

He eventually worked his way up to the role of cruise director, which he described as “an adventure” full of meaningful connections and unforgettable experiences.

“Every port visited left its mark,” he wrote, “but it was the people I met along the way who made it truly special.”

Carnival has experienced a number of popular cruise directors leaving in recent years.

Some have pursued new opportunities, like Matt Mitcham, while others, such as Mike Pack, Emma, and the Flying Scotsman, have taken different paths.

Additionally, Lee Mason and Jamie D have joined the shoreside team, and Dr. E has moved on to MSC Cruises, where he is now leading entertainment on the MSC World America.

Jake also thanked Carnival’s shoreside entertainment team for their support and allowing him to “be a part of something so much bigger than myself.”

But perhaps most touching was his message to guests: “Being a part of your vacations and celebrations was an honor I never took for granted.”

He closed his farewell with a nod to his signature catchphrase and a look to the future: “Here’s to land life! And for the very last time… Jake It Easy ❤️”

No word yet on what’s next for him, but his will definitely be missed by longtime cruisers.
