Carnival Cruise Line Denies Egg Shortage Rumors

If you’ve heard whispers about Carnival Cruise Line running low on eggs, don’t worry—your breakfast is safe.

Carnival’s Brand Ambassador, John Heald, cracked the case wide open, calling the rumors “utter nonsense.” In a social media post that had passengers chuckling, Heald reassured cruisers that all egg options remain available.

“This is of course utter nonsense,” Heald posted on Facebook. “I know there is an egg shortage in parts of the United States, but we still offer all the egg options we always have. That’s because we source all our eggs from a farm in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s called Old Macdonald’s Chicken Farm and the Beards have a brilliant relationship with Mac who is the EIEIO of the farm,”  he added humorously.

Cruisers Confirm “No Shortage in Sight”

Passengers have been quick to confirm Heald’s claims. One Reddit user shared, “I was on a cruise last week and there were plenty of whole eggs (meaning not powdered scrambled eggs). Whole eggs including hard-boiled, sunny side up, over easy, and eggs Benedict. No shortage in sight, no limits on the number of eggs you could take at the buffet.”

Another cruiser echoed the sentiment, saying, “…there were just as many eggs as every other cruise I’ve been on.”

Steady Supply as Egg Prices Surge

Despite the surging prices of eggs in the US—up 53% from January 2024 to January 2025 due to the bird flu outbreak—Carnival passengers can still enjoy the same hearty breakfast selections. Like other cruise lines, Carnival has managed to avoid supply disruptions by sourcing eggs from reliable suppliers and leveraging efficient international supply chains.

Passengers on other major cruise lines, including Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises, have also reported no changes to their breakfast spreads.

Virgin Voyages has even turned the situation into a selling point, proudly advertising “Eggs Always Included.”

One Facebook user who recently sailed with Celebrity Cruises chimed in, “Saw no difference on Apex last week. Made to order egg station was busy every morning. Lots of baked goods everywhere..”

So, there’s no need to panic for those planning a cruise soon. Whether you prefer your eggs scrambled, sunny-side up, or as part of a hearty eggs Benedict, Carnival’s breakfast options have you covered.
