With the launch date of Celebration Key over a year away, Carnival Cruise Line shared details about two of its main attractions, Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon.

Paradise Plaza is the receiving area for guests. The colorful promenade offers a warm welcome where passengers can take pictures under its Instagram-worthy arch, enjoy live music, and marvel at the 10-story structure called Suncastle. There’s also an ice cream shop to help you cool off.
This is where you can get information about the rest of the facility, make plans, book excursions, reserve cabanas, and register for water activities.
Calypso Lagoon is one of the main guest areas for relaxation and recreation. Located on the western side of Paradise Plaza, it has a sports court, the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean, and plenty of loungers, daybeds, and cabanas.
The lagoon has one main bar, several smaller bars scattered throughout the area, and almost 50 water swings. Once guests build up an appetite, they can choose from two full-service restaurants and different snack outlets.
Those who love the water can seek out the Bahamian beach nearby and its many water activities. According to the cruise line, part of the Calypso Lagoon and beach will be reserved for adults. These adults-only areas will feature a large swim-up bar, music beats from a DJ, cabanas, loungers, day beds, and local food trucks.
Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy referred to the two areas with excitement. “Paradise Plaza will be the perfect welcome spot and will set the tone for the entire visit to this truly unique destination. These new details show the creative design that’s gone into the development of each portal, with Calypso Lagoon alone offering a wide variety of options to fill the day while honoring the beauty of Grand Bahama and celebrating Bahamian culture,” she said. |
Celebration Key is scheduled to open in July 2025. Once operational, the $500 million development will welcome around 2 million guests annually.
In addition to Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon, its other main areas or portals include a family-friendly venue, a shopping district, and a private retreat. Construction plans for a waterpark are also underway.
The facility can accommodate two Excel-class cruise ships at a time.
