A male passenger was recently arrested as his cruise ended in Miami. Authorities say Dominic Weaver reportedly owes over $100,000 in child support and has been on the run for more than 10 years.

After being taken into custody in Florida, the 47-year-old was transported to Louisville, Kentucky, where he has four outstanding cases with its child support division. Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’ Connell informed WDRB Media that two charges will likely lead to more felonies.
Weaver owes between $114,000 and $120,000 in unpaid child support. According to O’Connell, the Kentucky dad never remitted any amount to pay off his debt.
“I don’t know when he left, but he fled the jurisdiction, and from the date of his sentence until today, and even today, he’s not paid one cent of child support,” O’Connell revealed to the local news network. He went on to describe the case as “one of the most egregious events” he has ever encountered.
Weaver had a five-year probation for flagrant nonsupport that ended last October. Since his Miami arrest, he has been detained at the Louisville Metro Corrections due to the same charge and for violating his probation.
He has been scheduled for arraignment on January 6, 2025. O’Connell said he would seek a four-year prison sentence against the accused.
Arrests have been known to happen during or after cruises but they are usually because of vacation-related incidents. Last October, an Illinois resident was arrested after an ATV accident led to another cruise ship passenger’s death. A mother was also forcibly disembarked while her son was later arrested due to a physical altercation with a 65-year-old passenger.
