Hurricane Humberto & Tropical System Cruise Itinerary Changes [September 2025]

Multiple cruise ships have adjusted their itineraries this week due to Hurricane Humberto and a developing tropical system (AL94) near the Bahamas, which is expected to become Tropical Storm Imelda.

A red flag is attached to a wooden pole and flutters against a backdrop of a blue sky with scattered clouds, signaling caution as Hurricane Ian approaches.

Ships sailing from Port Canaveral, Miami, and Cape Liberty have made significant route changes to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

The developing system currently has an 80-90% chance of becoming an official tropical storm over the weekend, prompting cruise lines to proactively modify sailings departing between September 25 and 28, 2025.

If your cruise is impacted this week, your cruise line will contact you by email to inform you of any changes and to outline their policies.

About the Weather Systems

Hurricane Humberto is impacting Bermuda-bound cruises, forcing ships to seek alternative destinations like Canada.

Tropical System AL94 is developing near Cuba with an 80-90% chance of becoming Tropical Storm Imelda over the weekend. The system is expected to move northwest through the Bahamas, bringing rough seas and gusty winds that make tender operations dangerous at private islands.

Travel Insurance and Storm Coverage

Travel insurance can cover hurricane-related disruptions, but policies must be purchased before the National Hurricane Center officially names a storm. Once named, it becomes a foreseeable event and new policies won’t cover that specific storm.

Cruise lines closely monitor weather systems and adjust routes to avoid dangerous conditions, often switching to alternative ports or adding extra sea days to ensure passenger safety.

This article will be updated as ship itineraries change.
