Virgin Voyages recently announced its Kids Sail Free program. Don’t let the name fool you because “kids” refers to travel companions aged 18 to 26. Here’s how you can take advantage of it.

The Richard Branson-owned cruise line encourages multi-generational cruising by allowing families to bring their adult children for free. The announcement states, “Kids ages 18-26 are invited to set sail aboard Virgin Voyages with their parents, guardians, and caregivers at no extra cost.
To avail of the offer, guests must meet the following conditions:
- The booking should be for a Central Sea Terrace stateroom or any stateroom from a lower category
- The free guest must be within the specified age range
- The booking must be made by August 23, 2024
- The cruise must take place by December 15, 2024
- Cruise reservations should be placed through Virgin’s customer service team, Sailor Services
The press release states the offer was inspired by the idea that “If you’re old enough to vote, you’re old enough to sail.” Though the brand is known for its adults-only cruise policy, it welcomes family vacations with adult children.
Virgin Voyages‘ kid-friendly onboard offerings include shore excursions, shows, arts and crafts, dodgeball, pool parties, and trivia contests.
Similar Deals from Other Cruise Lines
Other cruise lines offer similar deals throughout the year. These include Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean, Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line.
Their mechanics usually specify different age ranges that can avail of the offer, limited itineraries, blackout dates, and select perks. Children counted as third or fourth guests can typically sail for free if they occupy the same cabin as paying passengers. Each child’s taxes and port fees must still be settled.
Among the major cruise lines, MSC Cruises and Holland America Line have year-round offers for families traveling with children.
