Norwegian Aqua Arrives in NYC After Skipping Boston

Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Aqua, has officially arrived in the U.S., docking in New York City for an exclusive two-day preview ahead of its christening in Miami on April 13.

The 3,571-guest vessel is the first of the line’s Prima Plus class and introduces several new features, including the world’s first hybrid waterslide and rollercoaster, the Aqua Slidecoaster.

The ship also features upgraded accommodations, an expanded pool deck, a digital sports complex, and a new slate of entertainment led by a tribute to Prince.

The Norwegian Aqua slidecoaster with a raft ascends toward a tunnel entrance on the Norwegian Aqua, NCL's latest ship. The slide is surrounded by railings and a viewing platform where people capture photos. In the background, the cityscape stands against a partly cloudy sky.

Guests in New York this week will be among the first to explore the ship before it begins seven-night Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral later this month.

Norwegian Aqua will return to New York in August for roundtrip sailings to Bermuda through the fall.

While the ship’s U.S. debut was originally scheduled for Boston, the stop was canceled due to severe weather in the North Atlantic during its transatlantic crossing from Southampton.

Actor Eric Stonestreet is the godfather of Norwegian Aqua.
