Norwegian Cruise Line Adds No-Show Fee for Specialty Dining

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has implemented a new $10 per person fee for guests who miss specialty dining reservations without canceling or modifying them at least two hours in advance.

The policy is now in effect across NCL’s fleet and applies to all specialty restaurants that require reservations, including popular venues like Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro, and Ocean Blue. Complimentary venues and main dining rooms are not affected.

Guests can cancel or adjust their dining times through the NCL mobile app, by visiting the onboard dining reservation desk or Guest Services, or by calling ahead of time.

Reservations are only held for 15 minutes past the scheduled time before tables may be released to other passengers.

The no-show fee is being communicated to guests via onboard messaging, including the daily planner, and is also outlined in the cruise line’s updated cancellation policy.

NCL says the move is designed to ensure better availability and fairness for all guests, as unclaimed tables often go unused even when dining venues are in high demand.

This new charge does not apply if a reservation is canceled within the allowed window, nor does it affect guests who choose to dine at complimentary restaurants or who are simply late and still manage to claim their table within the grace period.

This no‑show fee comes as Norwegian continues to adjust its perks structure, similar to changes seen in its “More At Sea” program.
