A world cruise guest has boarded his ship again after an enforced break of 12 days on land. Anthony McWilliams was able to reboard the Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise after a short side trip to Brazil turned into a lengthy stay on land.

Brazil Regulations Force Change of Plan

McWilliams wanted to spend longer in Brazil and reboard at a later date. This would have meant embarking again at a different port, but the cruise line said this was prohibited. It highlights some countries’ differing and sometimes confusing cross-border cruise ship travel rules.

To solve the problem, McWilliams left the ship when it called at Grenada and reboarded several days later in Montevideo, Uruguay. TikTok influencer McWilliams said extended time in Brazil was crucial as he had visited the country with his now-deceased husband. “I walk the streets of Brazil and remember him,” he said.

More Drama for World Cruise ‘Reality Show

McWilliams has documented his South American side trip to more than 121,000 followers. “Twelve days later, it feels good to be back on board,” he captioned in a recent video post. He is part of a small informal group of TikTokers on the Ultimate World Cruise, filming their nine-month round-the-world voyage’s daily life and drama.

It has become a viral hit, with thousands tuning in to what has been dubbed a “nine-month long reality show” at sea.

Over the past month, it has become essential viewing for a growing army of fans. The 274-night Ultimate World Cruise began in early December and is scheduled to call at more than 150 ports.
