Carnival Expands Australia Cruises, Doubles Capacity

Carnival Cruise Line is expanding its 2026-2027 sailings in Australia, adding two more ships to its fleet in the region.

In addition to the existing Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Splendor, Carnival Adventure, and Carnival Encounter will also operate cruises from Brisbane and Sydney under the Carnival Cruise Line flag.

A large Carnival cruise ship sails on a calm ocean under a clear blue sky. The vessel features multiple decks, a distinctive red and blue funnel, and various water slides and amenities visible on the top deck, showcasing its vibrant Australian offerings.

“Guests interested in a cruise from Australia are bound to find the perfect itinerary, whether they’re looking to explore a new region or revisit key vacation destinations–all showcasing the diverse beauty of the South Pacific,” announced Carnival’s Vice President of Itinerary Planning Fred Stein.

Carnival Splendor will offer 2- to 12-day itineraries from Sydney, with stops at Moreton Island, Tasmania, and extended trips to New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Carnival Adventure (previously a P&O Australia ship) will sail similar routes, with a special 2027 voyage to Fiji.

Longer nine- and 10-day South Pacific sailings will explore Port Vila, Mystery Island, and other nearby destinations. Ten-day New Zealand cruises will call on Lyttelton (Christchurch), Dunedin, and Wellington, with scenic cruising in Fiordland National Park.

Carnival Encounter offers an array of options departing from Brisbane to explore the South Pacific and Great Barrier Reef. Short three- and four-day getaways include visits to Airlie Beach, while longer six- to 10-day vacations allow cruisers to explore Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and other breathtaking South Pacific destinations. Twelve- and 14-day trips also feature a stop at the stunning islands of Fiji.

Carnival Cruise Line has made several strategic changes in the last few months and has been seeing record profits. Last quarter, Carnival Corporation announced a profit of $1.7 billion.

Last June, the cruise line announced a merger with P&O Cruises Australia to optimize South Pacific operations. It also ordered three new cruise ships for 2029, 2031, and 2033.
