Princess Cruises has announced that power couple Matthew and Camila McConaughey will serve as godparents to the new Star Princess, continuing a tradition that has included cultural icons such as Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren.
A Maritime Tradition Meets Hollywood

The McConaugheys will christen the 177,800-ton vessel, Princess Cruises’ most innovative ship to date. “We’re honored to be godparents of the Star Princess,” the couple said in a joint statement. “With Princess, it’s not just a vacation — it’s time well spent, families and friends coming together, meeting new folks, and making memories.”
The selection reflects the couple’s alignment with Princess values. As co-founders of Pantalones Organic Tequila, they bring entrepreneurial spirit and creativity to the role.
Their tequila brand is already featured fleet-wide, including the popular 24K Gold Margarita and selections in Princess’ Love Line Premium Liquors collection.
