Cruise passengers now have the chance to break world records while sailing.

MSC Cruises declared that Guinness World Records (GWR) events will be available across its fleet by 2025.

Last year, the cruise line’s latest addition was introduced to MSC World Europa and MSC Seascape.

It became so popular that aspiring record breakers can now test their skills across 12 MSC cruise ships:

  • MSC World Europa
  • MSC Euribia
  • MSC Meraviglia
  • MSC Grandiosa
  • MSC Virtuosa
  • MSC Seashore
  • MSC Seascape
  • MSC Divina
  • MSC Magnifica
  • MSC Bellissima
  • MSC Seaside
  • MSC Splendida

Interested participants can try their luck in mass contests held during the day. These competitions will whittle down a select group of finalists who will showcase their skills during the evening showdown.

If a record is broken, the achievement will be confirmed by a GWR Official Adjudicator. GWR record breakers also get a certificate, granting them the ultimate bragging rights.

30 Titles Broken on MSC Cruise Ships

A large MSC cruise ship named MSC World Europa docked at port. The image captures the side view of the ship with several lifeboats visible, people walking near the dock, and tents set up on the ground. The sky is clear with a few clouds, hinting at nothing amiss despite recent man overboard drills.

As of October 9th, the cruise line’s passengers and crew members have broken 30 titles through various quirky achievements.

These include pulling 100 meters of rope in the shortest time, performing the most chair rotations in less than 21 seconds, and wearing the most pairs of socks on one foot in under 30 seconds.

Matteo Mancini, the cruise line’s Senior Manager Family Entertainment, pointed out that GWR is one of many engaging events that the company hosts onboard, saying, “Guinness World Records exemplifies the kind of successful activities we offer on MSC Cruises’ ships, engaging the entire family. It’s heartwarming to see all ages come together to compete and play.”

Breaking a record and being part of Guinness World Records entails global recognition. Each year, a long list of natural extremes and human achievements is published and distributed internationally. The publication itself has emerged as the bestselling copyrighted book series in history.

Several cruise lines have used the GWR as a highlight in their shipboard programming. Virgin Voyages attempted to break the world record for having the largest group of mermaids in 2022.

Last July, Princess Cruises organized the world’s largest pizza party, hosting the event across multiple ships.
