Norwegian Aqua Debuts at Port Canaveral

Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Aqua, has officially arrived at Port Canaveral, kicking off her inaugural season of seven-day Caribbean cruises just in time for summer.

The Norwegian Aqua, a large cruise ship with a colorful mural on its bow, is docked at Port Canaveral, secured by ropes, with another cruise ship visible in the background.

The 3,571-passenger vessel, the first in the new Prima Plus class, will sail from the Florida port through August 2025 with round-trip itineraries to top destinations including Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, which is slated for major upgrades later this year.

“We are so thrilled to have Norwegian Aqua homeport in Port Canaveral for her inaugural season of Caribbean voyages,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Designed for year-round fun-in-the-sun, the ship is perfect for guests looking for thrills or relaxation.”

The Norwegian Aqua, a large multi-deck cruise ship adorned with colorful hull artwork, is docked in Port Canaveral’s harbor, guided by a tugboat. Industrial tanks and buildings line the shore under a partly cloudy sky.

Norwegian Aqua is the first of Norwegian’s new Prima Plus Class ships, offering a 10% increase in size and capacity over its sister ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva.

Following her Caribbean season, Norwegian Aqua will sail from New York to Bermuda in fall 2025 before returning to Miami for winter Caribbean cruises.

Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray called the new ship “an ideal fit” for the port’s growing drive-to market.
