Sapphire Princess Returns From Drydock With New Specialty Dining Venues

Princess Cruises’ Sapphire Princess has completed a two-week drydock in Portland, Oregon, and has returned with several enhancements, notably the addition of two specialty restaurants.

The 115,875-ton ship carries 2,670 guests and now features Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill, set to open for guests on November 16, 2025.

Two New Venues

Makoto Ocean replaces the former Internet Café on Deck 7 and introduces guests to Chef Makoto Okuwa’s Edomae style sushi. The menu includes dishes such as truffle salmon, snow crab temaki, and toro tartare, complemented by handcrafted cocktails like the Genmai Negroni and Kodai No Hana.

This addition follows the restaurant’s successful runs on Sun Princess and the newly launched Star Princess.

The Crown Grill Steakhouse, located in the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5, offers premium aged beef, chops, and fresh seafood in an elegant setting.

Crown Grill has been recognized as one of the “Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses at Sea.”

Both Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill are priced at $60 per guest and are included in the Princess Premier package as specialty dining options.

Following the drydock, Sapphire Princess is scheduled to sail to Mexico before repositioning for South America and Antarctica itineraries.

The ship will also offer Mediterranean and Northern Europe cruises in spring and summer 2026, and Canada/New England cruises in fall 2026.

In March 2027, Sapphire Princess will join her sister ship, Diamond Princess, in a historic dual deployment in Japan, marking the largest Princess Cruises Japan season to date.
