The crew of Disney Treasure quickly contained a small fire over the weekend, which had no impact on the ship’s itinerary.
The incident, which occurred in the ship’s incinerator room, was swiftly extinguished, and all onboard operations resumed as normal.

Passengers later reported that Captain Andy McRonald issued a Code Red—an alert indicating a fire—but a follow-up announcement from the cruise director clarified that the fire was minor and fully handled by the crew.
“The cruise director came on maybe an hour later… and explained it was a small fire in one of the incinerators that the crew ably took care of,” one passenger shared.
The ship remains on schedule for its seven-night Western Caribbean itinerary, which includes stops in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Disney’s private island in the Bahamas before returning to Port Canaveral on February 15.
Passengers Unaffected Amid Other Onboard Incidents
While reports of the fire surfaced online, passengers onboard were more focused on other events happening simultaneously, including a medical emergency and concerns over a 7.6-magnitude earthquake near the Cayman Islands just a day prior.
The earthquake prompted a brief tsunami warning, but officials later lifted the alert with no impact on Disney Treasure’s itinerary. The ship arrived in Cozumel on February 10 and is set to dock in Grand Cayman on February 11 as planned.
Fire Safety on Cruise Ships
Fires aboard cruise ships are rare but not unheard of, and modern vessels are equipped with advanced fire detection and suppression systems. Crew members undergo extensive safety training to handle emergencies efficiently, as demonstrated on Disney Treasure.
Disney Cruise Line Has Not Issued a Statement
Disney Cruise Line has not released an official statement regarding the fire. However, the incident was quickly resolved, and no injuries or disruptions were reported, so passengers continued to enjoy their voyage without interruption.
