A female crew member who disappeared from a Carnival Cruise Line ship on Friday has been declared missing at sea, and the US and Mexican Coast Guards have yet to locate her.

The unidentified female cruise line employee was onboard Carnival Dream while traveling from Cozumel, Mexico, to Galveston, Texas. When she didn’t report to work on Friday and an onboard search proved fruitless, her colleagues contacted maritime authorities and reported it as a man overboard incident.
Carnival confirms crew member status
The cruise line confirmed her missing status to Cruise Radio in an email.
“Carnival Cruise Line can confirm that a team member on Carnival Dream who did not report to work on Friday is presumed missing at sea. The US and Mexican Coast Guards have been notified and the Carnival Care Team is in contact with her family and supporting colleagues on board. Carnival Dream arrived in Galveston as scheduled Saturday morning and is now on her next cruise. Our thoughts remain with our team member, her family, and her friends and colleagues on board.” |
Be on the look out for missing crew member
According to Maritime News, the crew member is believed to have gone overboard at approximately 2:30 AM on Friday while the ship was navigating the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. A few details about the incident have been shared. It has not been revealed if anyone saw her fall overboard or if anyone noticed she was missing before then.
The head of Yucatan’s Harbormaster Office and Frigate Captain José Antonio Solano Claustro received the report and has been coordinating search and rescue efforts. Authorities have asked the maritime community to remain alert and report any relevant sightings to the local harbormaster’s office.
Carnival Dream is now on an eight-night roundtrip sailing from Galveston with scheduled stops in Florida and the Bahamas.
This is the third man-overboard incident in two days. Two passengers also went overboard from Norwegian Spirit and Explorer of the Seas on August 8 and 9, respectively.
