Williams’ journey with Carnival began with his passion for entertainment and natural talent for engaging with people. With his dedication and enthusiasm, his career progressed quickly from a junior cruise director to a figure in shoreside operations.

He earned the nickname “The Flying Scotsman,” a nod to his dynamic presence and boundless energy. This name symbolized his personality and ability to captivate audiences, making him a loved figure among cruise passengers and crew.

In November 2023, Williams took on the role of Fleet Cruise Director, overseeing the entertainment programs across Carnival’s fleet. This position allowed him to mentor and guide the next generation of cruise directors, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. His leadership in this role further solidified his influence within the company.

Fellow cruise director Lee Mason commented in his farewell video, “It’s impossible to put into words how much you’ll be missed by all of us. A huge congrats on all your incredible achievements, but more importantly, hats off for following your heart and prioritizing your family and friends. It’s been an absolute honor to work with you. Your talent is immense, and your character even more so.”

The decision to retire was announced in a heartfelt video message shared on social media. In it, Williams candidly spoke about his mixed emotions as he reflected on his career and the reasons behind his choice. He revealed that August 10, 2024, would be his last day with Carnival, marking the end of a significant chapter in his life.

Williams’ retirement stems from a shift in priorities. At 40, he realized the importance of spending more time with his family, particularly his young daughter. The decision to step down was not taken lightly, but Williams knew it was time to focus on his family and embark on a new chapter.

Chris has been the Cruise Director on several Carnival ships over the past decade, including Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Celebration, and launching Mardi Gras in July 2021.

Carnival has not yet announced a replacement for Williams. You can watch the entire video on The Flying Scotsman’s Facebook Page.
