The refurbishment reflects Celestyal’s response to the increasing demand for spacious and high-end staterooms, with a 52% boost in the ship’s premium capacity and a 7.4% overall increase in accommodations.

The 1,360-passenger ship began its 2025 season on March 21 with a three-night “Iconic Greek Islands” cruise departing from Athens.

On March 23, Celestyal Discovery became the first cruise ship to return to Santorini after restrictions were lifted following a series of small earthquakes in February.

Expanded Suite Options

The hotel room offers premium accommodations, featuring a double bed with white and patterned bedding, multiple pillows including a green cylindrical one, and a wooden headboard. Enjoy a wall-mounted TV, curtains partially veiling the window, and discover Celestyal Discovery-level service.

As part of the overhaul, 47 new staterooms were added, including 32 suites that enhance the ship’s premium offerings.

Among these, two new categories were introduced:

  • Junior Dream Suites: Measuring approximately 269 square feet with private balconies of over 60 square feet
  • Grand Horizon Suites: Located above the bridge, these spacious 452-square-foot suites feature separate living areas and expansive balconies of nearly 164 square feet

In addition to the new suites, 15 interior “Cosmos Cabins” were added, catering to budget-focused travelers.

Enhanced Dining Experiences

The refit included the introduction of The Smoked Olive, a dedicated dining space for suite guests.

Later in the season, a “pop-up” dining venue called Grill Seekers will offer high-end regional cuisine inspired by the ship’s Mediterranean itinerary.

Previous Refurbishments

Known for its spacious amenities, the 2003-built vessel underwent its first refurbishment under the Celestyal brand in early 2024.

The initial updates included refreshed social spaces, upgraded staterooms, and the addition of new dining venues such as Café Nation, The Pizza Oven, and a poolside Greek deli.

Before the year ended, the boutique cruise line revealed plans for further renovations while announcing a simpler pricing structure.

The recent renovations were led by design specialists AMK, who ensured that the ship’s aesthetic and amenities meet evolving guest expectations.

“Our stunning upgrades, including two new cabin categories, provide guests with even more home comforts and choice in line with demand for more premium and spacious staterooms.”
