Nominate Your Favorite Teacher to Win a Free Cruise

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6 to 10, 2024, with its fifth annual Giving Joy cruise giveaway.

In addition to donations and free cruises, the cruise line is introducing a new year-round discount to educators in the United States and Canada.

Since 2019, NCL’s Giving Joy campaign has been recognizing teachers with free cruises. The program also awards them and their educational institutions with cash grants. This year, the Miami-based company is introducing a new perk—a year-round 5% Teacher Cruise Discount.

NCL President David J. Herrera announced, “To honor these education heroes for the long-lasting impressions they make inside and outside the classroom, we are excited to not only award 20 teachers on the fifth-year anniversary of Norwegian’s Giving Joy program with a free vacation aboard the soon-to-debut Norwegian Aqua, but to also extend the recognition to the broader educator community across the U.S. and Canada with our new Teacher Cruise Discount.”

The Teacher Cruise Discount is available to all active classroom teachers, principals, assistant principals, and school employees serving pre-kindergarten to grade 12 levels. It is also being offered to college professors. To enjoy the discount, education professionals in the USA and Canada must validate their professions online.

Once validated, they can enjoy a 5% fare discount and a $50 onboard credit. Teachers are also entitled to additional benefits when they purchase the Free At Sea program. These include an unlimited open bar, free airfare for the second guest, and more.

In keeping with the yearly tradition, NCL will give a handful of teachers free cruises. The public can nominate certified or accredited teachers from May 6 to June 7, 2024. Teaching professionals from the US and Canada with the highest number of votes will receive invitations to:

  • A 2-night inaugural event in Boston aboard Norwegian Aqua (top 20)
  • The christening and inaugural sailing of Norwegian Aqua from Miami (top 5 winners only)

During its 4-year run, Giving Joy has gifted free cruises to more than 250 educators and donated more than $445,000 to teachers and their schools.

Last year’s winner, Ryan Price, acknowledged how NCL’s financial assistance benefited his students. “The donation my school received from Norwegian and their generous partners has allowed us to take our students on field trips that would not have been possible otherwise,” he said.
