MSC Cruises Implements 15-Drink Limit for Alcohol Packages Starting April 2025

MSC Cruises’ drink packages will start adopting a daily maximum of 15 alcoholic beverages in April 2025. Non-alcoholic drinks will remain unlimited.

The interior of a British pub features a well-stocked bar with MSC Cruise Drink Packages subtly advertised among the liquor bottles. A counter holds empty glasses, while the foreground showcases a menu titled "British Pub." The atmosphere remains warm and inviting.

An upcoming guest shared with our tip line that MSC Cruises will begin selling the updated drink packages on December 18, 2024.

These will apply to voyages leaving on April 1, 2025 onwards. Those who purchase their drink packages before the 18th can still enjoy the terms of the previous bundle.

Passengers who wish to consume more than 15 alcoholic beverages can purchase them at the regular price.

Meanwhile, MSC Yacht Club guests can order beyond the 15 drink limit.

Drink packages can still be redeemed at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise line’s exclusive destination in the Bahamas.

According to the cruise line, the change is geared towards “promoting a healthy and balanced approach to indulgence, allowing us to maintain high-quality service whilst creating an enjoyable and responsible atmosphere for all our guests.”

Positive Online Reception

The news was received with mostly positive reactions.

Some compared it to the deals of Holland America Line (HAL). “Better than HAL, I would say. With HAL the 15 drinks limit includes non-alcoholic drinks too,” a Reddit user pointed out.

Another remarked that MSC was simply following in the footsteps of its competitors, “Wondered if something like this was coming. Other cruise lines have implemented a daily cap to prevent people from trying to grab extras for people without drink packages.”

A third observer said, “I like this change as it mimics the Princess policy.” The same user explained, “Hoping this change brings about some good positive changes for MSC… Their ships are gorgeous and they could definitely compete at the Celebrity/Princess level if they can get their food/service up to par and do their best to curtail some of the bad behavior from passengers.”

MSC’s range of alcoholic beverages includes cocktails, spirits, liqueurs, cordials, wines, champagnes, and beer. Its non-alcoholic offerings encompass hot drinks, mineral water, non-alcoholic cocktails, and drinks.

These are offered through five types of drink packages—the with-alcohol Easy, Easy Plus, and Premium Extra packages as well as the non-alcoholic Alcohol-Free and Minors packages.
