NCLH Cruise Brands Now Accepting PayPal for Cruise Bookings

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has deepened its existing partnership with payment app PayPal. The app can now be used to book and pay for cruises by US customers on NCLH’s three cruise brands – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The company says the PayPal checkout option will significantly streamline the booking process for customers. It claims cruise customers will benefit from a 43% faster checkout when using the PayPal option. It offers “ease, simplicity and security” PayPal says. It “increases conversion by an average of 84% among customers who pay online for travel.”

Harry Sommer, President and CEO at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd said in a release: “This marks a major milestone in our payments acceptance journey. We are committed to providing guests with more variety and more value. The addition of PayPal is an easy and secure option to pay for cruises.”

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd will continue using PayPal Braintree as its credit card processing partner for reservations and for all onboard purchases. NCLH first partnered with PayPal Braintree in 2022 to process payments for Norwegian Cruise Line and then later expanded it to all NCLH brands.

PayPal adoption also includes shipboard payments. “We’re making travel more seamless for consumers by deepening our relationship with global travel brands,” said Suzan Kereere, President, Global Markets at PayPal. “With Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, we’re offering people a convenient way to book cruises all the way from reservations to experiences on high seas.”

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings isn’t the first cruise company to adopt PayPal for cruise bookings. Carnival and Virgin Voyages also offer the payment option. PayPal is one of the longest-established digital payment apps, and has been operating for more than 25 years. Its consumer and business payment services have a presence in about 200 markets globally.
