Carnival Cruise Line Fleet Cruise Director Mike Pack announced his departure last week.

His update on Facebook reads, “…the leadership team announced that I will be retiring from Carnival Cruise Line, marking the end of an incredible chapter in my life.”

He continued, “From the team members and friends I’ve worked alongside, to the guests who’ve made my time with Carnival so rewarding, it’s the memories and experiences we’ve created together that mean the most to me.”

In the same post, Pack invited cruise passengers and fellow employees to reach out with photos and videos. “If you have any photos or videos of us together, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could share them here; I’d love to have them to look back on in the years to come,” he added.

The official announcement was made during a company celebration of Carnival’s fourth quarter results. Since Pack was looking forward to spending more time with his family in the UK, colleagues surprised him with a send-off video that featured his wife, Emma, and three-year-old daughter.

Meanwhile, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald shared a clip of the standing ovation Pack received from fellow employees. Heald commended him, writing, “Mike was a brilliant Cruise Director…he was a mentor to many who are sitting in the Cruise Director chair now.”

“Mike, you leave an everlasting legacy of dedication and Fun and I wish you and the Pack family happy days together,” Heald concluded.

Messages from former passengers also flooded in. “Wishing you a happy retirement and all the best on your next adventure. My first cruise was on Carnival Magic and you were the Cruise Director Mikey Mike. You were the best,” praised one guest.

Another said, “He truly made the experience memorable and really went all out for the passengers… Thank you Mike, for making so many people smile!”

A favorite among guests, Pack joined Carnival in 2012, where he served for over a decade. He began as a sports director, hosted events as part of the Fun Squad, worked his way up to assistant cruise director, and finally became fleet cruise director in January 2022 as the Mardi Gras vessel was being launched.

Last September, another well-known Carnival cruise line personality, Lee Mason, was promoted from Cruise Director to Fleet Cruise Director.

This past summer, Chris Williams, AKA The Flying Scotsman, departed the company after 13 years with it to pursue other opportunities.
